G'day and welcome!

Thanks for checking out this blog! I don't know about anyone else but in my case, trying to begin typing out a blog post, essay, report etc takes a lot of effort, not to mention very time-consuming because I get stuck on how to best start off, so for starters I'll get the niceties out of the way and briefly introduce myself.

My name is Nick Frampton, I'm 20 years old and currently doing a Bachelor of Information Technology at Central Queensland University, based at the Mackay campus. It's been around 7 months since I moved back to Mackay after spending over a year living with my old man on the Gold Coast, and it's great to be back. Many people have a high opinion of the Gold Coast, particularly its beaches and theme parks, however going to the Gold Coast for holidays is very different to actually living there, and it won't take long for many to become completely disillusioned with place, but I'll leave my explanations as to why for another day.

Over the past 6 years I've infrequently ventured in and out of the blogosphere, posting about my personal interests such as Japanese Anime, gaming and Federal Government communications policy (I actually had to get into my Google account settings to find out what I actually posted all those years ago back in high school!) but never had the motivation to take the various blogs I created further after 1 or 2 blog posts; perhaps it's due to a lack of 'love' for writing (academic tasks are a different case though!) on my part.

Fortunately, the second uni semester of 2014 presents me with the external motivation to return to blogging in the form of an assignment - one of three I'm required to complete for one of the subjects I'm doing this semester: Communication in Professional Contexts. As you can probably gather from the subject's name, it deals with communication within professional environments, those environments known to most of us as the workplace. Just to be clear, Communication in Professional Contexts deals with communication between individuals, as opposed to communications which refers to telecommunications.

In a nutshell, the assignment requires I write 5 or more blog posts, reflecting on an individual question about communication from the weekly lesson PDFs provided to us each week. So you get a clearer picture what kinds of questions I'll be responding to through weeks 3 to 10 of this semester, in the next blog post I will be reflecting on an example of a social situation where I felt uncomfortable, what lead me to feel uncomfortable and what strategies I could enact that might make me feel more comfortable in the future. Doesn't seem to difficult right?

Well I'll end this first post here since there's much more study for me to plough through and time is of the essence. Please stick around, my first response is coming shortly! :D
